Privacy
Short version: your voice is processed on your device and goes only to the call you are in. The extension sends nothing unless you turn on its anonymous technical reports (errors, performance); it never sends audio, page content or what you type.
The extension
- Audio from your microphone is processed inside your browser, on your computer. It is never uploaded, stored or recorded.
- The engine and its models ship inside the extension. Apart from the reports described below, it makes no network requests of its own.
- There is no account and no sign-in. We don't know who uses Parla.
- Your settings (on/off per site, quality, strength, language) are kept by your browser's extension storage, synced by your browser if you have that turned on.
- The extension asks to run on all websites so that it can wrap the microphone wherever a calling app asks for it. It reads no page content.
Reports from the extension
- Anonymous technical reports are off unless you turn them on in the extension's settings: errors, performance (delay, processing time), the settings you use, your browser and operating system, and the kind of calling app (for example "Meet" or "other") — never its address. They carry a random ID that changes every month.
- Detailed diagnostics are off unless you turn them on: they add the domain of the site where Parla ran (for example meet.google.com, never the rest of the address) and a permanent random ID, so a problem on one site can be traced.
- Reports go to a small receiver of ours on Cloudflare. It keeps the reports for at most 7 days and a summary without page addresses for at most 3 months. It does not store IP addresses. Audio, page content and anything you type are never sent.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no trackers.
- The live demo processes your microphone in this page; the audio never leaves your browser.
